Abbot of a monastery in Sri Lanka, philosopher

Spiritual director of Theravada Buddhism and honorary member of the Theravada Group Salzburg.

At the age of nine, the desire to lead a spiritual Buddhist monk life matured in Bhante Seelawansa. At the age of ten, he entered the Buddhist monastic order. After studying in Sri Lanka, he worked as a teacher in a Buddhist school. In 1982, Bhante Seelawansa came to Austria. During his first year, he studied German in Salzburg. He then came to Vienna, continued his studies there, and since then has been working significantly in the Austrian Theravada community from Vienna.
