Prof.

Reto
Knutti

Climate research

Head of the Climate Physics Group at the Institute for Atmosphere and Climate of the Department of Environmental Sciences at ETH Zurich.

Reto belongs to the ETH Competence Center for Climate Systems Modeling (C2SM) and is one of the leading minds when it comes to the objective representation of climate change.

He and his research group investigate how increasing emissions of greenhouse gases affect the global climate. With the help of various climate models, the researchers are developing methods that make it possible to quantify future impacts on the climate and to identify the uncertainties that exist about them.

For his "outstanding achievements in researching climate change and for communicating his findings to the public", Reto Knutti was awarded the Dr. J.E. Brandenberger, one of the highest foundation prizes in Switzerland.
